HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/07/09F':I11• At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 5:30 p.m., Mayor Paxton presided, and upon call of the roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners Abraham, Gault, Kaler, Watkins and Mayor Paxton (5). ORDINANCE — EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT FOR POLICE CHIEF Commissioner Abraham offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Gault, that the Board of Commissioners introduce and adopt an ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND JAMES O. BERRY." This ordinance is summarized as follows: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an Employment Agreement between the City of Paducah and James O. Berry for employment as Police Chief of the City of Paducah. Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Abraham, Gault, Kaler, Watkins and Mayor Paxton (5). ORD.92009-4-7528; BK 32; PG WORKSHOP Finance Director Jon Perkins distributed a handout of information answering requests from Commissioners Abraham and Watkins. The requests for additional information included expenditures such as the following: Departments overtime Public Works temporary employees Operating subsidies to Associated Agencies Leased Buildings Take Home Cars Car allowance -who gets and how much Cost for Leaf Bags (distributed to citizens) A copy of the complete packet is contained in the minute file. CITY MANAGER REPORT ❖ Personnel actions — no discussion ❖ City Manager requested executive session to discuss an operating efficiency plan that involves specific employees and positions. EXECUTIVE SESSION Commissioner Gault offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Abraham, that the Board go into closed session for discussion of matters pertaining to the following topics: ❖ Issues which might lead to the appointment, dismissal, or disciplining of an employee, as permitted by KRS 61.810(1)(F).
