HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/02/84Proceedings of Board of Commissioners No. City of Paducah At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber on May 2, 1984, Mayor Viterisi presided and upon call of the Roll, the following answered to their names: Com- missioners Cole, Coleman, Ford, Grumley and Mayor Viterisi (5). Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Cole, that the executed copies of notices of Called Meeting to be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 1984, be received and f iled. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Cole, Coleman, Ford, Grumley and Mayor Viterisi (5). Commissioner Ford offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Grumley, that a Municipal Order entitled, "A MUNICIPAL ORDER AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PADUCAH TO APPROVE THE APPLICATION OF THE VIETNAM VETERANS GROUP OF PADUCAH TO CONSTRUCT A MEMORIAL IN THE CIVIC CENTER PLAZA", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Cole, Coleman, Ford, Grumley and Mayor Viterisi (5). Mayor Viterisi offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that a Municipal Order entitled, "A MUNICIPAL ORDER APPOINTING MRS. SHIRLEY MOORE MENENDEZ TO FILL THE VACANCY CREATED BY THE RESIGNATION OF CLAY D. ZERBY, AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE OPERATION OF A MUNICIPAL COLLEGE IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commis- sioners Cole, Coleman, Ford, Grumley and Mayor Viterisi (5). Commissioner Cole offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that the Board of Commissioners adopt an ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF J. R. SULLIVAN'S COMPANY, INC., FOR PURCHASE OF A 16 H.P. YAZ0O LAWNMOWER, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE". This ordinance is summarized as follows: Accepting the bid of J. R. Sullivan's Company, Inc. for purchase of a Yazoo Lawnmower for use by the Maintenance Department, for the sum of $2,797.98. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Cole, Coleman, Ford, Grumley and Mayor Viterisi (5). Commissioner Grumley off ered motion, seconded by Commissioner Ford, that the Board of Commissioners introduce and adopt an ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING WILLIAMS, HOUSMAN, SPARKS & FRANKLIN TO DEFEND JOE VITERISI, HAL COLE, HAROLD FORD, JAMES W. UTTER AND L. DANIEL KEY IN SUITS FILED BY GLADMAN C. HUMBLES". This ordinance is summarized as follows: Authorizing the City of Paducah to provide Joe Viterisi, Hal Cole, Harold Ford, James W. Utter and L. Daniel Key, in- dividually, with legal representation and defenses in the suit filed by Gladman C. Humbles; author- izing the employment of Williams, Housman, Sparks & Franklin to defend the City of Paducah, Joe Viterisi, Hal Cole, Harold Ford, James W. Utter and L. Daniel Key in said suits; and due to the necessity of defending these actions, declaring an emergency to exist. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Cole, Coleman, Ford, Grumley and Mayor Viterisi (5). The Board then conducted a Workshop. Commissioner Ford offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Grumley, that the Board of Commissioners go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussions on proposed or pending litigation. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Cole, Coleman, Ford, Grumley and Mayor Viterisi (5).
