Fairhurst was a member of the Paducah City Commission for two years, and _ WHEREAS, Mr. Fairhurst has spent countless hours of his time voluntarily carrying out the affairs of numerous civic organizations and supporting the City of Paducah; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fairhurst spent years researching and writing a book on Paducah, its history and families, which was published in 1980; and WHEREAS, on August 29, 1983, Mr. Fairhurst unexpectedly passed away, which passing the City of Paducah desires to note with this Resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, upon the unanimous vote of all members of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, the following Resolution is adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah individually and as a whole, do hereby express their sincere sorrow and remorse at the passing of Mr. Richard E. Fairhurst, who will be missed, not only as a hardworking and unselfish civic leader, but also, and most importantly, as an admired and respected friend. Accordingly, the City does hereby proclaim posthumously their special thanks and gratitude to Mr. Fairhurst for all that he has done and for all that he has-given. to the City of Paducah. Though he will be greatly missed, he.wiil always .be remembered. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that-a copy of this Resolution be served upon the family of Mr. Fairhurst by presenting a copy of same to his wife, Mrs. Rose Fairhurst. Further, a copy of this Resolution shall be filed with the records of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. John K.
