Kelley Psychiatric C:lini-c is proposing to renovate fhe "Sears Building" in the City of Paducah and convert it to a 64-bed psychiatric facility for children, adolescent and geriatri'c'=patients, .and WHEREAS, there has been a long-standing need for these services in the greater Paducah area and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and WHEREAS, the proposed facilities will meet only a portion of the need that is currently existing for such services, and WHEREAS, the proposed facility will further enhance the development of the medical community, and with a significant gap in medical services available to the general population of Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Northwest Tennessee and several Missouri counties that utilize the facilities of Paducah for secondary medical services, and WHEREAS, the proposed site represents a utilization .of a substantial landmark structure in bringing this facility back into full utilization, and WHEREAS, the implementation af! fihe'~prQgram~~dill substantially increase the number of jobs with a proposed full staffing of 92 new positions; - ~'~ ~ '°'-~'r NOWr -THEREFORE; '~&E ~IT RES©L~`ED BY THE BOARD ~~OF: dOMMI~S'S~IONEI~S !OF~!THE CITY OF PADUCAH AS FOLLOWS: !SECTION 1. The City of Paducah hereby gives its full support to the proposed development of a 64-bed psychiatric facility for children, adolescent and geriatric patients in the "Sears Building" in the City of Paducah, Kentucky. SECTION 2. The City of Paducah believes that this facility is needed for these services in the greater Paducah area and the Commonwealth of Kentucky and that the proposed facility will meet only a portion of the need that is currently existing in this area. WHEREFORE, the City of Paducah gives its full support to the proposed development of a 64-bed psychiatric facility proposed by the Kelley Psychiatric Clinic.
