HomeMy WebLinkAboutImportance of Voting126A ~~SOL21~IO~ WHEREAS, A democracy reflects the will of the majority of the people it represents, and; P WHEREAS, The right to vote is the keystone of the democracy and is a right for which people have fought and died, and for which people in other countries struggle, and; WHEREAS, Voting honors and demonstrates that those who fought and died to preserve the democracy for us did not fight and die in vain, and; WHEREAS, Only 21 percent of Kentucky's voters participated in the May 23 primary election, and; WHEREAS, The will of the majority cannot be heard unless more voters participate in elections, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH: that the City of Paducah hereby proclaims to all our citizens the importance of casting their vote on November 7, 1995 for the candidates of their choice and be it therefore further resolved that the city urges all our businesses, industries and employers to promote the ~' importance of voting to their employees and clients, and likewise ~- encourages all our citizens to promote the importance to their families and acquaintenances.
