Supporting the Issuance of an Irvin S. Cod d Stamp
WHEREAS, Irvin S. Cobb merits the title of Paducah's favorite
native son, and
WHEREAS, Many titles can be assigned to Irvin Cobb--writer,
humorist, raconteur, local colorist, humorist,
reporter, autobiographer, actor, master of
ceremonies, but, most importantly, "Duke of
Paducah", and
WHEREAS, In his prolific career, Irvin S. Cobb produced 66
books and over 5,000 newspaper and magazine
articles, and
WHEREAS, Irvin Cobb ranks as one of America's greatest local
colorist writers and during his lifetime was
recognized as one of America's most respected
newspaper reporters and magazine article writers,
and
WHEREAS, 1994 marks the 50th anniversary of Irvin Cobb's
death.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE
