RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, DECLARING THE INTENT OF THE LEGISLATIVE BODY TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE PROCESS OF SEEKING DESIGNATION AS A RENAISSANCE
KENTUCKY COMMUNITY
~~~ WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Board of Commissioners to preserve

and enhance the quality of life in their community; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has determined it is in the best interest
of the residents to participate in the Renaissance Kentucky program; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is committed to the revitalization of the
"downtown" business district.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED this day that the Board of Commissioners of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, agrees to move forward with the following steps:
Formation of a Renaissance Kentucky.committee which shall be a broad based
citizen participation committee charged with the responsibility of developing a downtown
revitalization plan; and
Authorize and direct the aforementioned committee to provide the solicitation
of funds and develop aprivate/public partnership for the downtown area and to develop a set
of goals and measurable objectives to be achieved in the revitalization of the designated area;
and

`W~` Commits to the revitalization of the downtown area in a manner that is
consistent with the historic preservation of the designated area; and
Commits to proceed with a study of local impediments to the redevelopment of
the designated area; and
Commits to the development of a safety plan to address the health, safety and
welfare needs of those in the designated area; and
Commits to conduct an occupancy analysis and market plan to be followed by a
marketing implementation plan; and
Commits to development of a local leadership plan; and
Commits to identify physical improvements needed in the downtown
Renaissance area.
