Paducah,Area Chamber of Commerce
Resolution
Whereas: The current dispute between the City and County
over the 911 Emergency Communication System is
not in the best interests to the citizens of this entire
county.
Whereas: There is currently in place aPaducah/McCracken
County Emergency Communication Commission
which represents both City and County interests on
that Commission.
Whereas: There is no contract regarding the City/County's
responsibilities to the 911 system which is not only
counter-productive in the short term but impossible
when realizing that terms of office may change
management every 2 and 4 years.
Therefore: The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce strongly
urges that the City and County Commissions
empower the Paducah/McCracken County
Emergency Communication Commission to devise a
single system that is in the best interests of the
citizens of Paducah and McCracken County.
The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce also
further' encourages the City and County Commissions
to adopt the recommendation of the Emergency
Communications Commission and mutually agree
upon a contract dealing with authority, accountability
and revenues to alleviate any further disputes.
