RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES FOR 2005 TO GOVERNOR
FLETCHER, SENATOR McCONNELL, SENATOR BUNNING, REPRESENTATIVE WHITFIELD AND
THE McCRACKEN COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION
WHEREAS, the Paducah City Commission and the McCracken County Commission have reviewed legislative
priorities for our community; and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has recommended a list of 2005
legislative priorities to the City and County governments.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Paducah City Commission that the following 2005 legislative priorities
are hereby recommended to Governor Earnie Fletcher, Senator Mitch McConnell, Senator Jim Bunning,
Representative Ed Whitfield and the McCracken County legislative delegation.
STATE FUNDING
Regional Priorities
1. Purchase Area Regional Industrial Park
a. $5 million for acquisition, engineering and other development costs
2. Barkley Regional Airport Improvements
a. $15 million (est.) for new air terminal: $7.5 million State Funds
$7.5 million Federal Funds
b. $6.1 million (est.) taxiway and runway overlays: $300,000 State Funds
$5.8 million Federal Funds
3. West Kentucky Community and Technical College -Emerging Technology
Center
a. $15 million for construction of a building to accommodate information
technology, advanced technology in manufacturing and robotics, and allied
health
Local Priorities
• Transportation Projects
a. Pecan Drive / Buckner Lane /Strawberry Hill - $4.3 million to alleviate
traffic congestion in Kentucky Oaks Mall area
b. Olivet Church Road - $3.5 million to widen road from P & L Railroad to
Hwy. 60 to improve access to Industrial Park West and Kentucky Oaks
Mall
c. Kentucky 994 Interchange with I-24

a. $1.1 million for construction of a new multi-agency Emergency
Management Services Center
b: $100,000 Civil Air Patrol Building
• Paducah McCracken Joint Sewer Agency
a. $2.15 million in FY 2005 Budget in bonding opportunities, including $750,000
extension of sewers for economic development

• DOE Cleanup Contracts at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant
a. $106 million -Site Cleanup
b. $51 million - DUF6 Facility Construction
• Barkley Regional Airport Improvements
