HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-24-13JUNE 24, 2013 At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 6:00 p.m., for the City Commission to join the McCracken County Fiscal Court at the McCracken County Courthouse in Courtroom D, Judge Executive Van Newberry and Mayor Kaler presided, and upon call of the roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners Abraham, Rhodes, Wilson and Mayor Kaler (4). Commissioner Gault was absent (1). MOTION R & F CALLED MEETING NOTICE Commissioner Gault offered motion, seconded by Mayor Kaler, that the Notice of Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah for 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2013, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Abraham, Rhodes, Wilson and Mayor Kaler (4). The City Commission joined the McCracken County Fiscal Court for a Community Update of the Operational Transition of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant. Speakers were Chad Chancellor, President/CEO and Charlie Martin, Vice President of Paducah Economic Development aka Greater Paducah Economic Development Counsel; Duncan Pitchford, representing the Chamber of Commerce and USW Local 550 President Donna Steele. After the update, a question and answer session was held for the public. RESOLUTION Commissioner Abraham offered motion, seconded by Mayor Kaler, that a resolution be draft to include the City, McCracken County, Paducah Economic Development, Chamber of Commerce and the USW Local 550 to support a resolution to request funding for the cleanup of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant site and to urge DOE to act on the Expressions of Interest received for continued use of the site.
