HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-8-7450ORDINANCE NO. 2008-8-7450 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 86-61 AND 86-63 OF ARTICLE III ENTITLED "PRECIOUS METALS AND STONES DEALERS" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 86-61 is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 86-61. Register of purchases. (a) It shall be the duty of all persons in the purchase or exchange of secondhand or antique jewelry, coins, watches, diamonds, or other precious stones, cutlery, old gold, silver, platinum or other precious metals, or any other secondhand manufactured articles composed wholly or in part of gold, silver, platinum or other precious metals to keep a daily register , of every article purchased or exchanged by them in the course of their business and the persons from whom such articles were acquired. The register shall contain as minute a description of each article as is possible, including any identification numbers and the manufacturer's name, as well as the name, age, sex, race, address, driver's license number, general description of the individual or individuals selling or exchanging the articles, and their signatures. (b) All persons engaged in business as described in subsection (a) above shall ft `h to the Chief fP liee eaeh day at the peliee „f-fl,.o by, 11;00 photograph or scan all items purchased or exchanged.Copies of said photographs or scans must be maintained for a period of one year after the date on which the transaction occurred. SECTION 2. That Section 86-63 is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 86-63. Photograph of seller required. No person engaged in business as described in section 86-61 shall purchase or exchange secondhand or antique jewelry, coins, watches, diamonds or other precious stones, cutlery, or gold, silver, platinum or other precious metals, or other secondhand manufactured articles composed wholly or in part of gold, silver, platinum, or other precious metals unless the person first obtains an instant developing photograph of the seller or exchanger of the above enumerated items or a photo copy of the seller's or exchanger's current operator's license or state -issued identification card. The photograph is to be identified in such a way that the person or persons shown in the photograph can be identified with each entry of the register identified in section 86-61. The photograph and register shall be maintained for a period of one year after the date on which the transaction occurred. 1r=--1-- L--- _ __ --- L,h - ,_ --- - SECTION 3.
