AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,150,000.00
WITH B.H. GREEN & SON FOR ADDITIONS AND MODIFICATIONS OF THE
JULIAN M. CARROLL CONVENTION CENTER
WHEREAS, the Paducah -McCracken County Convention
Center Corporation has reviewed all bids received for additions
and improvements to the Julian M. Carroll Convention Center, as
submitted June 11, 1992, and by deleting certain desired
additions and modifications, the scope of the construction
project has been reduced in order to meet budgetary restraints;
and
WHEREAS, the architectural firm of Peck Flannery
Gream Warren, Inc. assisted the Paducah -McCracken County
Convention Center Corporation throughout all of the foregoing
proceedings and recommends the low bid of B.H. Green & Son as
reduced; and
WHEREAS, the Paducah -McCracken County Convention
Center Corporation Board of Directors believes that the bid of
B.H. Green & Son, as reduced, is the best responsible bid for
construction the additions and improvements to the Julian M.
Carroll Convention Center; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution adopted in June, 1992, the
Paducah -McCracken County Convention Center Corporation has
recommended to the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Paducah that a construction contract be entered into with B.H.
Green & Son for the purposes of additions and modifications of
the Julian M. Carroll Convention Center.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to recommendations contained in
a resolution adopted by the Paducah -McCracken County Convention
Center Corporation, the Mayor of the City of Paducah is hereby
authorized and directed to execute a construction contract in
the amount of $1,150,000.00 with B.H. Green & Son for additions
and modifications of the Julian M. Carroll Convention Center.
SECTION 2. This expenditure shall be charged to
Account No. 01-88-20-466.
SECTION 3. In order to award this contract on an
expedited basis so as to take full advantage of summer
construction weather, an emergency is hereby declared to exist
and this ordinance will become effective immediately with one
reading.
