HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-9-4840672 ORDINANCE NO. 92-1—elgS[O AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING SECTION 10-2 OF CHAPTER 10, CIVIL SERVICE, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND CREATING A NEW SECTION 10-2 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 10.2 of Chapter 10, Civil Service, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is hereby deleted. SECTION 2. That a new Sec. 10-2, Establishment, composition, appointment, etc., of commission, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is hereby enacted and shall read as follows: "Sec. 10-2. Establishment, composition, appointment, etc., of commission. "Pursuant to the provisions of KRS 90.310, there is a commission to be composed of five (5) commissioners, and known as the 'Board of Civil Service Commissioners of the City of Paducah.' All commissioners must be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners of the city, and their duties shall be to conduct hearings, hold examinations as to qualifications of applicants for municipal employment within the several departments of the city, and any other business permitted by the Civil Service Laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Each appointee shall be at least thirty (30) years of age and not related by blood or marriage to either the Mayor or any member of the legislative body of the city. Appointees now serving are for a term of three (3) years. Two (2) new appointees shall be named and one to serve for a initial term of one (1) year and one for a term of two (2) years. The successors to such new appointees shall be appointed for a period of three (3) years and until his successor is appointed and qualified. At the time of any appointment, 673 not more than three (3) commissioners shall be adherents of the same political party. Vacancies shall be filled in the manner provided under KRS 90.310." SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary pub- lication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
