HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-1-488510 ORDINANCE #9Z- AN � AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4-7., "DISPOSAL OF DEAD ANIMALS.", OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH. WHEREAS, Section 4-7., "Disposal of Dead Animals.", of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah provides for the lawful disposal of dead animals; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners desires to amend the provisions of Section 4-7 as provided herein. KENTUCKY: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, SECTION 1. Section 4-7., "Disposal of Dead Animals.", is hereby amended to read as follows: ME mi aI NEIR I The owner or possessor of any animal which shall die, or person causing the death of any animal, within the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, shall properly remove the carcass of the animal within twelve hours of the death of the animal to a person who is duly licensed to handle and dispose of such carcass, or such owner, possessor, or person shall, within the aforesaid twelve hours of the death of the animal bury the animal on his or her privately owned property. Once the dead animal is received by any Berson who is duly licensed to handle and dispose of carcasses, such person shall properly dispose of the carcass in a sanitary manner within a ,..._,.., ,, .,:-mr-.., .... ..p,i.,pmrr'-yiPll~..—qfp "'T'P II rr9mIYI'':'n..—rI ",-I Irl -r 777E r ."r_ r.... ,.- «.....«..—. ... reasonable period of time, and as may otherwise be prescribed by statute or regulation. In the event, the animal is buried on privately owned property, the carcass of the dead animal shall be two feet below the ground surface and 10 feet from the property line of the property, or as may be otherwise prescribed by statute or regulation. Large exotic animals and farm animals, including animals related to equine and bovine species shall not be buried on private property located within the corporate limits of the City of Paducah unless properly interred by a person duly licensed to handle and dispose of carcasses. The failure of any person to comply with this section shall be unlawful. Any person violating this section shall be fined any sum not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
