AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH
COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, CABINET FOR
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, REGARDING A $2.2
MILLION GRANT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE
PADUCAH INFORMATION AGE PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Greater Paducah Economic Development Council has
r \ applied for a grant from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Cabinet for Economic
Development, in the amount of $2.2 Million to be utilized in the development of the
Paducah Information Age Project; and
WHEREAS, as a condition of said grant, the Commonwealth of
Kentucky, Cabinet for Economic Development, has requested that the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, and the County of McCracken, Kentucky, execute with the Greater Paducah
Economic Development Council an agreement which sets forth terms and provisions
regarding the grant; and
WHEREAS, the development of the Paducah Information Age Project is
of vital importance to the continued prosperity of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and
that the grant is of vital importance to the continued development of the Paducah
Information Age Project;

Paducah, as follows:
SECTION 1. The City of Paducah, Kentucky, does hereby approve and
agree to execute the agreement by and between the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and
the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Cabinet for Economic Development, wherein a grant
is provided by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Cabinet for Economic Development, to
the extent of $2.2 Million for the development of the Paducah Information Age Project.
SECTION 2. The Mayor of the City is hereby authorized and directed,
and the City Clerk of the City is hereby authorized and directed, to attest under the
seal of the City an agreement substantially in the form attached hereto and approved
by the corporation counsel for the City as to form and legality.
SECTION 3. Pursuant to KRS 83A.060, the City Commission suspends

Commission does hereby declare an emergency to exist as to the execution of the
grant agreement. Specifically, any delay in the execution of the aforesaid grant
agreement could adversely impact the continued development of the Paducah

Information Age Project. It is necessary that funding be immediately procured from the
Commonwealth of Kentucky, Cabinet for Economic Development so as to pay costs
and expenses which have been incurred and which continue to be incurred in regard
to the development of the project.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective upon the first
reading of this ordinance and publication of same.
