ORDINANCE NO. 94-2-JO%5 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE AMOUNT OF $18,935.47 AND CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 IN AN AMOUNT UP TO $26,000.00 WITH VANGUARD CONTRACTORS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE RIVERFRONT PLAZA, AND AMENDING THE CONTRACT END DATE TO MARCH 30, 1994 FOR THIS PROJECT WHEREAS, the City entered into a contract with Vanguard Contractors Inc. for construction of the Downtown Riverfront Plaza; and WHEREAS, Change Order No. 1 is required in order to reduce construction material quantities, which decreases the original contract price, and gives 28 additional days for completion of contract; and WHEREAS, Change Order No. 2 is required for the installation of an enhanced design handrail and ADA approved grabrail for the Plaza, for additional utility work, and to extend the duration of the contract by up to 98 days, or March 30, 1994. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute the following Change Orders with Vanguard Contractors Inc. for construction of the Riverfront I Plaza: Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $18,935.47 is required to reduce the quantities of construction materials, thereby decreasing the original contract price and extending the contract completion date by 28 days, necessitated by summer flooding; and Change Order No. 2 in an amount up to $26,000.00 is required for the installation of an enhanced design handrail and ADA approved grabrail, for additional utility work, and to extend the contract completion date by an additional 98 days, or March 30, 1994, necessitated by additional inclement weather. These Change Orders are attached hereto and incorporated by reference as if fully set out herein. SECTION 2. The original contract with Vanguard Contracts Inc. is extended to March 30, 1994, for completion of this project. SECTION 3. The amount of the contract with i Vanguard Contractors Inc. is amended to $1,185.136.58. SECTION 4. This expenditure shall be charged to Account No. 42-88-20-466. SECTION 5. Due to inclement weather which has delayed construction since the implementation of this 393 contract, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall become effective immediately with one reading.
