ORDINANCE NO. 95-10- ~~ 7
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 17-18, PENALTY AND
INTEREST FOR LATE PAYMENT OF TAX, OF CHAPTER 17, LICENSES AND
OCCUPATIONAL REGULATIONS, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS, Section 17-18 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Paducah sets penalties and interest for late
payment of occupational licenses; and
WHEREAS, license taxes in excess of $300 are
permitted to be paid in two equal installments, the first of
which is due by April 15 of each year, and the final
installment is due on or before August 31 of each year; and
WHEREAS, if a payment is late a penalty of 5~ of the
taxes due, plus 1~ of such taxes for each additional month, is
imposed by said Section; and
WHEREAS, due to a change in procedure, the City
failed to voluntarily notify license holders of the second half
payment of license taxes due by August 31, 1995; and
WHEREAS, the City is desirous of a one-time waiver of
the penalty and interest for late payment for Occupational
License holders.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah hereby waives
penalty and interest charges imposed by Section 17-18 for
license holders paying the second half of their deferred
license fee due by August 31, 1995. In order to receive said
waiver, payment must be made no later than the close of
business (5:00 p.m.) on October 16, 1995.
SECTION 2. Due to the City's failure to voluntarily
notify Occupational License holders of the payment date for the
second half of their 1995 license fees, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall become effective
immediately with one reading.
