ORDINANCE NO. 97-2-,S6 �50
AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE ALPHA PROJECT BOARD OF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created and established
the Alpha Project Board of Directors consisting of four members
and the Mayor, who shall serve as an ex -officio member and will
assist the Board when necessary to break any tie -voting
decisions.
SECTION 2. Members of said Board shall be appointed
by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of
Commissioners, shall be residents of the City of Paducah, and
shall be appointed for a term of two years, from March 1, 1997,
to March 1, 1999, as follows:
Two (2) community leaders representing diverse
cultural backgrounds;
follows:
One Chamber of Commerce representative;
One Greater Paducah Economic Development Council
representative;
Mayor, who is ex -officio member.
SECTION 3. The duties of this Board shall be as
1. Oversee the organization and administration of
the Alpha Project, an economic project to be
funded by the Department of Local Government
2. Develop a program plan to establish staff needs,
responsibilities and duties to carry out the
project goals and objectives.
3. Such other duties of a like nature which shall be
directed to the Board by the City Commission.
SECTION 4. The members of this Board shall serve
without compensation from the City, may no incur indebtedness
to be paid by the City, and the City shall not be responsible
for debts incurred by said Board. Board members shall be
reimbursed for any expenses for travel, lodging and meals
incident to their duties on said Board.
SECTION 5. In order to meet grant deadline
requirements, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this
ordinance shall become effective immediately with one reading.

SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be published by
summary pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
