AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF JIM SMITH CONTRACTING COMPANY
INC., FOR THE 1998 STREET RESURFACING PROGRAM, ROADWAY EXCAVATION AND
RECONSTRUCTION, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SAME
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah accepts the bid of Jim Smith Contracting Company
Inc., in the amount of $1,062,665.00 for the 1998 Street Resurfacing Program, and the hourly rates for roadway
excavation and reconstruction as listed below, said bid being in substantial compliance with the bid
specifications and advertisement for bids, and as contained in the bid of Jim Smith Contracting Company, Inc. of
July 27, 1998.

SECTION 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Jim Smith
Contracting Company Inc. for street resurfacing, roadway excavation and reconstruction as set out in Section 1
above, according to the specifications, bid proposal and all contract documents heretofore approved and
incorporated in the bid.
SECTION 3. This expenditure shall be charged to Account No. 003-2217-531-4227.
SECTION 4. In order to begin work on this program before the onset of inclement weather, an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall become effective with one reading.
