Minutes Monthly Board Meeting Tuesday, February 28, 2023. at 8:OOam
Present Board Members- David Troutman, Cindy Mangrum. Maggie Moore, Vicki Brantley,
John Durbin, Robert Hernandez, Simone Fearon, Karami Underwood, Carol Young, Dan
Frazier, Torn Shoulta.
Staff Present- Matthew Martin
Call to Order: David Troutman called the meeting to order at 8:05am.
Minutes from Last Month: Carol Young made a motion to approve the December minutes. Cindy
Mangrum second. The motion passed.
Committee Reports:
Finance Committee: Vicki Brantley presented the financial report to the board. Vicki has some
questions about these numbers and is awaiting a response from the accounting firm. Vicki gave
the board and new director a background review over the endowments and accounts.
Nominating Committee: There are four board members who will be rolling off the board in
June. David Troutman encouraged the board to keep that in mind over the next several months.
Personnel Committee: Cindy Mangrum is grateful for things to be settled down now that the
new director has started_ The board thanked Cindy for her dedication and work during the
interim. Cindy gave a great report on the new kitchen manager. The seniors are enjoying the
new meals and she's improved the productivity of the kitchen. Matthew is adding a new activity
called In the Kitchen with Kim where the seniors can chat with the kitchen manager and share
some feedback and ideas.
Bylaws and Policies Committee: David Troutman and Matthew Martin shared some issues
they've discussed and are working to resolve in the policies and procedures of The Senior
Center.
Director's Report: See attachment presented by Matthew Martin.
Matthew has revised the newsletter and has shared it on the website.
He's also working to help E -Homes get through the rest of the fiscal year and has applied to
Lowe's to get a mower for Teresa to use.
Old Business:
Jackson House: The board discussed the staffing issue with the Jackson House meal delivery.
Marshall County: David Troutman has sent a letter informing the Judge Executive that The
Senior Center will be stopping meal delivery to Marshall County at the end of June. The board is
awaiting a response from him.
New Business:
Approving Director for business account: Vicki Brantley made a motion to make
Matthew Martin a signer on all accounts and to remove Christine Thompson but keep all
current board signers the same. Karami Underwood second. The motion passed.
United Way meetings: Teresa presented on E -Homes and did a great job!
Building Update- David and Matthew met with Jeff Canter of PFGW. They shared details
of the building plan with the board and discussed some decisions that'll have to be made
in the future.
Comments and Announcements
• John Durbin brought up the Paxton fundraising challenge and the board discussed how to
get back involved with that this year.
Adjournment
• Karami Underwood made a motion to adjourn at 9:27am, Simone Fearon second. The
motion passed.
The next board meeting date is March 28, 2023, at 8:00am.
