HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-9-6107ORDINANCE NO. 99-9--6/0 7 AN ORDINANCE FOR THE DISSOLUTION OF THE CITY LIBRARY AND THE TRANSFER OF ASSETS OF THE DISSOLVED LIBRARY AND ADJACENT PARKING LOT TO THE McCRACKEN COUNTY LIBRARY TAXING DISTRICT ON JUNE 30, 2000 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. In accordance with KRS 173.395, the City hereby dissolves the Board of Trustees of the Paducah Public Library effective midnight, June 30, 2000. The dissolution of the Board of Trustees of the Paducah Public Library shall have the effect of removing the tax levied for establishment and maintenance of the Paducah Public Library and shall also serve as an order to the Finance Director, who shall, on the effective date of the dissolution, June 30, 2000, at midnight, remove the tax from the bills of the property owners of the City. Upon the dissolution, the assets of the library shall be transferred to the McCracken County Library Taxing District. SECTION 2. The Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Paducah are hereby authorized and directed to transfer and convey by deed the real property currently being used as a library parking lot located on Kentucky Avenue between 5th Street and 6th Street in Paducah, Kentucky, to the McCracken County Library Taxing District on July 1, 2000. Said deed shall contain a reverter clause which provides that in the event the McCracken County Library Taxing District does not use the property as a parking lot for the library and the general public, the title to the real estate shall revert to the City of Paducah. SECTION 3. The tax revenue collected after June 30, 2000, by the City of Paducah from tax levies prior to July 1, 2000, for maintaining the Paducah Public Library shall be delivered and paid over to the McCracken County Library Taxing District. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
