AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF JIM SMITH CONTRACTING
COMPANY INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,618,117.50 FOR THE CITY'S RESURFACING
AND PAVEMENT MARKING PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SAME
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah accepts the bid of Jim Smith Contracting
Company Inc., in the amount of $1,618,117.50 for the remainder of 1999 and calendar year 2000
for the City's street resurfacing and pavement marking program, said bid being in substantial
compliance with the bid specifications and advertisement for bids, and as contained in the bid of
Jim Smith Contracting Company, Inc. of August 23, 1999.
SECTION 2. The City of Paducah accepts the bid of Jim Smith Contracting
Company, Inc. for roadway excavation and construction at the following hourly rates:

SECTION 3. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Jim
Smith Contracting Company Inc. for street resurfacing and roadway excavation and construction
as set out in Sections 1 and 2 above, according to the specifications, bid proposal and all contract
documents heretofore approved and incorporated in the bid.
SECTION 4. This expenditure shall be charged to Account Numbers 003-2217-
531-4227 and 003-217-531-3919.
SECTION 5. In order to begin work on this program before the onset of
inclement weather, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall become
effective with one reading.
