Upon call of the roll, the following answered to their names: Cindy Ragland, Nic Hutchison, Hope Reasons, Chad Clark, Ashley McMillan, Steven Page, Basil Drossos, and April Cochran. Cheryl Sullivan was absent. Michael Cochran was an invited guest. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Council member Hutchison offered the motion, seconded by Council member Clark to approve the Minutes for the December meeting of the Council. All in favor. KY ARTS DAY REPORT Council member Ragland invited Michael Cochran, Executive Director of Market House Theatre, to give a report on the KY Arts Day in Frankfort. He reported the arts leaders met with some legislators who indicated their support for keeping the KY Arts budget and said they would speak to their fellow legislators. The Kentuckians for the Arts have also sponsored a new arts license plate which is currently on sale. $10 of the proceeds goes to the KFA. MURALS ON RAILROAD OVERPASS UPDATE Council member Clark has put together the Broadway & Jefferson St RR Viaduct Art proposal and asked for feedback from the Council. Council member Reasons expressed concern about including information on the proposed Arts Corridor. Council member McMillian asked that PSAD be included, and Council member Drossos noted incorrect spelling of Carloss and that P & L needed inclusion in the arrival process timeline. The proposal was also given to Susan Sakernoski for her feedback. She was impressed with the presentation and said that the RR will want to know costs - both fiscal & human resources, plus potential liability concerns. Reminder that there are other large stakeholders other than just P & L. The Council directed Clark to make the name correction, addition of PSAD, P & L approval in timeline and to separate out the Arts Corridor from the proposal. However - we do wish both packets to be given to the Mayor. The Mayor is the person who speaks to the RR about the proposal after city has signed off on it. The CCC will create the RFP and Call for Artists. Council member Hutchison will create the RFP. BROADWAY DESIGN CORRIDOR Council members are directed to look at the emailed packet for information on this. BURNS DINNER UPDATE Council member McMillan reported that the event was a great success. 145 tickets sold with a wait list - up from 62 tickets last year. SOUTHSIDE ART Rhonda McCorry of the African American Historical Society spoke at length with Council member Ragland about the proposed project. She and the Paducah Historic Preservation group are interested in spearheading/facilitating the proposed public forum, which is what the City is wishing them to do. The thought is to use stakeholders with existing relationships to move the project forward. CITY HALL EXHIBIT The next city hall exhibit will be presented by the Paducah Historical Preservation group. MEMBER TERMS UPDATE Council member Ragland updated the group on when member terms are up. ADJOURN Council member Drossos moved to adjourn, Council member McMillan second. Meeting adjourned at 5:48 p.m. Our next meeting is February 15 at 5:00 p.m.
