HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-2-6003155 ORDINANCE NO. 99-2- (0.3 AN ORDINANCE CREATING SECTION 78-65 OF CHAPTER 78, PERSONNEL, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, TO PROHIBIT THE GRANTING OF RETROACTIVE SALARY AND WAGE INCREASES WHEREAS, Kentucky Revised Statutes require that municipalities adopt fiscal year budgets; and WHEREAS, personnel costs are the largest category of city expenditures; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City Legislative Body to require that large expenditures be fixed in the budget at the time of its adoption. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY SECTION 1. That Section 78-65 of Article III, "Compensation", of Chapter 78, "Personnel", of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah prohibiting the granting of retroactive salary and wage increases, is hereby created and ordained to hereafter read as follows: "Section 78-65. Retroactive Salary and Wage Increases. No employee shall be granted a retroactive salary or wage increase except in instances where the Director of Finance certifies that a retroactive wage payment is due an employee as result of an error by city staff in making previous payments to the employee." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
