Paxton Park Paducah KY Cl��LRPC May 9, 2023, 2023 Meeting of the Paducah Golf Commission Meeting called to order by Chairman Rick Loyd at 6:00 PM at Paxton Park. Chairman Loyd led the Commission in the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioners Present: Rick Loyd, Mark Knecht, Steve Seltzer, Mark Kettler, John W. Gill, & Jeanne Stroup, Secretary/Treasurer. Others Present: Director Daniel R. Mullen Motion by John Gill to approve the April Minutes as written. Motion Second by Mark Kettler. Motion carried. Director Mullen updated the Commission on the following: OLD BUSINESS: • Status of 2nd installment of annual city budget supplement. Check was received and deposited 5/9/23. • Update on status of clubhouse exterior renovation. Spoke to Chris Yarber, Public Works, and the total bid approximates $34K. • Update on Sentry Insurance quote. The agent has not been available for quote follow-up but hopes to soon. • Update on fencing bids for parking lot. Modem Fence bid was $4,631 without screening, $6,600 with screening. Jones Fence was $7,296. Will be doing more investigation on screening and strength of posts. • Followed up on bid regarding new garage door at the maintenance building with B & T Garage Door. Asked for approval to have B & T to replace door for $2,600 bid. Motion to approve Mark Kettler, John Gill seconded. Roll call vote, unanimously approved. • Update on knoxbox. It has arrived, not installed yet. Wanting to speak with fire department about mounting before installing. • Update on school program. Spoke to McCracken Cc Boys Coach, Chris Gregory, and he asked that we send information to him to distribute to students/parents. Ginger Hollowell, McCracken Cc Girls Coach has received and sent information back. The program has been well received. Discuss email blast survey status. We had approximately 30+ votes, but leading votes was #4 red, 44 white, #11 red, 412 white, #8 white, #5 white, #16 white. These had multiple votes. Pepsi and Paducah Bank have both renewed their title sponsorships for 2023. NEW BUSINESS: • Commissioner Seltzer discussed aqua shade product for lake, and new product that is less expensive. Will update Commission once he sees how the product works. • Director Mullen discussed Employee changes. Blake Roettger gave notice, and hired Cody Duren, but has not been able to consistently work due to regular UPS job. Still looking for weed eaters. • Director Mullen Presented budget for City Amateur. • Director Mullen updated Commission on status of business volume. Green fee #'s for first 4 months up 48%. Much of this is known to be weather related but also speculating some of this is due to Pam Spencer's help with sending our social media information out. May was down 10% so far this month. • Director Mullen Informed Commission that former golf commissioner Bill Wells has been in the hospital. • Secretary Stroup went over financials.
