HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-4-6192ORDINANCE NO. 2000-04-6192 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAPH (a) OF SEC. 38-33, "FEE FOR FUNDING OF E-911 SYSTEM", OF CHAPTER 38, "EMERGENCY SERVICES", OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY WHEREAS, KRS 65-750 allows the City of Paducah and McCracken County to enter into an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement for the establishment of an enhanced 911 emergency telephone system; and WHEREAS, KRS 65.760(2) provides for the City and/or County to levy any special tax, license, or fee to establish and operate an enhanced emergency telephone system; and WHEREAS, the McCracken County Fiscal Court and the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah have established an enhanced 911 emergency telephone system pursuant to KRS 65.250(2)(a); and WHEREAS, the Paducah -McCracken Emergency Communication Service Board has recommended that the telephone service surcharge which funds the cost of the service be increased from $1.00 to $1.50 per month. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Paragraph (a) of Sec. 38-33, Fee for Funding of E-911 System, is hereby amended and reordained to hereafter read as follows: "(a) The telephone companies providing service to subscribers in the city shall collect for each line within the city the sum of $4-A9 1.50 per month." SECTION 2. This fee shall become effective July 1, 2000. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
