ORDINANCE NO. 2000-11-_(�2,�(
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,588.81 WITH JIM SMITH
CONTRACTING, CO. INC., FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH' S STREET RESURFACING
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City approved Ordinance No. 99-8-6093 to enter into a contract
with Jim Smith Contracting, Co. Inc., in the amount of $1,618,117.50 for the City of Paducah's
Street Resurfacing Program; and
WHEREAS, on April 11, 2000, the City approved Ordinance No. 2000-4-6189,
for Change Order No. 1 for an increase in the amount of $3 8,5 14. 10 for inclusion of concrete
work for Voors Park and the replacement of the 25th Street Bridge and to finalize the project for
the above referenced contract, increasing the total contract price to $1,656,631.60; and
WHEREAS, Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $500,588.81 is required for
additional items within the scope of the original work to be able to complete the City's Street
Resurfacing and Pavement Marking Program for 1999-2000.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change
Order No. 2 for the City of Paducah's Street Resurfacing Program for an increase in the amount
of $500,588.81 with Jim Smith Contracting, Co. Inc., for additional items within the scope of the
original work to be able to complete the City of Paducah's street resurfacing and pavement
marking program for 1999-2000, increasing the total cost to $2,157,220.41.
SECTION 2. This shall be charged to the following account numbers:
003-2217-531-4227 - MAP
003-2217-531-3919 (ST0013) - Concrete, C & G
040-3315-532-2307 (ST0016) - Conrad Heights
040-8821-536-2307 (PA0020) - Parks Parking Lot
006-1214-513-2414 (CD0012) - Voors Park
009-1209-513-2307 (CD0033) - Voors Park
040-3315-532-2307 (ST0009) - 25h Street Bridge
SECTION 3. Due to the necessity to complete the Street Resurfacing Program
prior to the onset of inclement weather conditions, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and
this ordinance shall become effective immediately with one reading.
