ORDINANCE NO. 2003-8-6672
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT BETWEEN THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, TRANSPORTATION
CABINET, DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
FOR PECAN DRIVEBUCKNER LANE EXTENSION PROJECT BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract between
the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Highways, and the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
for infrastructure improvements consisting of two bridges for the Pecan Drive/Buckner Lane
Extension Project. The Department will reimburse the City up to $750,000 for completion of
this project.
SECTION 2. In order to comply with the terms of this contract in a timely
manner, it will be necessary to accelerate the acquisition of the right of way adjacent to the two
bridges and to commence the bid process procedure in order to begin construction. A
construction project of this type is complex and extensive. Therefore, time is of the essence and
an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall become effective immediately
with one reading. This ordinance shall be published in summary pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
