HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-7-6663524 ORDINANCE NO. 2003-7-6663 AN ORDINANCE CREATING A LIMITED EXCEPTION TO ORDINANCE NO. 99-2-6003, PERTAINING TO RETROACTIVE PAY INCREASES FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST. WHEREAS, on February 23, 1999, the Board of Commissioners adopted an ordinance generally prohibiting retroactive pay increases for City employees, and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Paducah now desires to create a limited exception to the f aforesaid ordinance for purposes of granting immediate wage increases for City employees, and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City Commission that this ordinance shall not, in any manner, amend or repeal Ordinance No. 99-2-6003, except as expressly stated herein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY. SECTION 1. The prohibition of retroactive wage increases for City employees, as set forth in Ordinance 99-2-6003 shall be, and is hereby, deemed not effective for limited purpose of permitting a 2.1% wage increase, as approved by the City Commission, for certain City employees, retroactive to June 30, 2003. SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 99-2-6003 is hereby reaffirmed, ratified and reapproved. SECTION 3. Pursuant to KRS 83A.060, the City Commission suspends the requirements of a second reading of this ordinance. As g rounds therefore, the City Commission does hereby declare the necessity of the prompt payment of wages to its employees to constitute an existing emergency. SECTION 4.
