HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-17-2022IRMODWMD MAR 17 2022 CITY CLERIC I.The Paducah Creative & Cultural Council convened for a Called Council meeting on February 17, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall at 300 South 5th Street. II. Roll Call Upon a call of the roll, the following members answered to their names: Chad Clark; Deputy Building Inspector, Cindy Ragland, Shand Stamper, Morgan Walker, Mary Katz The following members were present: Steven Page, April Cochran Not present were the following: City Planning Director Nic Hutchison and Basil Drosos Guests: Dennis Rouleau and Haylie Hobbs from Barkley Regional Airport III. APPROVE MINUTES FOR Feb, 2021 M Katz moves to approve minutes. M Walker seconds. No objections. All in favor. Minutes approved. IV. New Business a. Barkley Regional Director presents info on new terminal Sense of place exercise to design new terminal Comfort convenience and safety Reflect the best of who we are/ best of region Sense of hospitality /welcoming (front door/porch) Promote and facilitate growth around airport and community Be an airport you're excited to use and are proud to have as part of the community. Will incorporate the most updated building codes. Designed for growth. Spaces for art are planned in the design of the gate area. The airport board will be on the ad-hoc art committee to give suggestions for the airport. Art will be regional in focus, giving priority to regional artists, noted that this is a regional airport, not just Paducah Airport. Will be a meeting/greeting counter near p b. Marketing, Advocacy, and Economic Impacts of the ARTS - M Kattz Group of arts and cultural organizations (unified arts group) meet and discuss arts things regularly. When is the Americans for the Arts survey happening and due? S. Stamper will ask about how to use the information of the website to reach out to artists. How do we use the information we have? V. Old Business a) NEA Grant Update - S. Stamper I will ask about the website info/updates b) Creative & Cultural council terms - N. Hutchinson C. Ragland and S. Page terms are up and have agreed to be reappointed c) Public Art Master Plan - C. Clark & N. Hutchinson C. Clark and N. Hutchinson have met to work on it. Advocacy for art point person for the city and internship. They will merge and give us that to review. d) Women's Club Art Show - April 25th - May 7th e) Mayfield Ice House Art Guild Art Show - May 13th f) Other Business: April 12&13th airport consultant will be here to talk to the arts organizations. Discussion of new meeting time. We can all think about times and availability. C. Clark has met with Roe Morse and has made a spreadsheet of the historical markers we have and their locations. Our City Hall marker will be re installed. S. Fischer with Paducah Arts Alliance will be here late March. C. Ragland shared his agenda. A. Cochran asks if the council would be interested in supporting the performing arts. Arts Action Summit will happen VI. April Agenda a) TBD VII. Adjournment A.
