I. Jackie called the meeting to order at 12:10 pm.
11. Pledge/ Silence for the phone were done. No Minutes.
Ili. No minutes were read. You should have received the previous months Minutes
per email.
IV. Trish reported the account has $7300.41
V. Corresponding secretary: no report. in Attendance: Trish Hines, Carol
Vanderbough, Henry Barbour, Paull Grumley, John Park, Ronna Ward, Candice
Griffin, Phyllis Clymer, Mary Hammond, Jackie Smith, Dabney Haugh, Ania
Lasota..
VI. Business Awards: Mary gave the list of award names. Will be given out on
Tuesday, November 12. Grumley, Riley & Stewart, Boudreaux's Cajun Cuisine,
a
Bank Lone Oak Rd., Williams Park, LuCASAcare, Buddenbaum House, Divine
Design Center.
VII. House of the month: Anthony Hunter 2104 Jackson St.
VIII. Adopt a spot: Katie Axt spoke about the masterplan for the downtown
Adopt -A -Spot. City wants to raise the standard of the planters. The city has taken
on the job of the new plantings and maintenance. Business owners are no longer
responsible. Public Works is now in charge. Shop owners will be asked to keep
trash out the beds and planters. Gateway spots at entrances are still un
negotiation. Discussion regarding cigarette butts: A merchant can be a block
captain. They field all complaints and try to resolve among themselves. Give
merchants more ownership over what happens in their block. Mrs. Sheet is also
working on a program to make vinyl laminate to cover windows on vacant
buildings. Flowers and Pollinators and the city will pay for the first one. They will
be asking for sponsors.
IX. Dogwood Trail: trail is to be re -vamped. Please email Jackie street ideas. Thinking
of a simple loop Not starting at Whitehaven. Mary suggested call-in suggestions
for areas that people will want to see. Put it on social media. Ask people to post
pictures of trees. We are moving forward in ordering the banners for Broadway
and Jefferson. Carol will help with artwork.
