Mayor Brandi Harless created the draft plan using information from the City Strategic Planning Session held in November 2017 and from the community meetings she held January through March. At this meeting, the Board approved a municipal order adopting the Vision Statement and the eight Key Performance Areas and Objectives. The City Manager and staff will work over the next approximately four months to complete the Mission Statement and the Organizational Values in addition to the development of Action Plans for each of the objectives. The adopted Vision Statement for the City of Paducah is Paducah is a city where people strive to reach their full potential through lifelong learning, creativity, culture, and compassion for one another. The Key Performance Areas are  Maintain high level of safety for all  Develop healthy and sustainable neighborhoods  Maintain thoughtful and modern infrastructure  Provide open, smart, and engaged government  Enhance arts and culture  Empower upward economic mobility for all  Provide excellent recreation experiences for all ages and abilities  Celebrate a diverse community. Ford, an interior designer and artist whose birthday is May 7, also is known for his contributions to charity. Mayor Harless encouraged the community to donate to their favorite non-profit in Ford’s honor.  Mayor Harless presented a proclamation to Ashley Valentine-Hall that proclaims June 2 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day to promote responsible gun ownership.  Municipal order approved for the grant request in the amount of $15,000 from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. If awarded, the funds would be used to purchase public education materials to be used by the Paducah Fire Department. No local match is required for this grant request.  Municipal order approved authorizing the declaration and sale of city-owned surplus property located at 1320 Oscar Cross Avenue. Michael Taylor submitted a bid for $326 for the property and plans to construct a home on the lot.  Municipal order approved accepting the bid from Minter Roofing in the total amount of $144,070 for the replacement of the roof at the Robert Cherry Civic Center and at the Probation & Parole building.  Ordinance introduced (vote later in May) to reclassify the positions of City Clerk and Chief Building Inspector from Civil Service to Non-Civil Service. The current employees in these two positions will retain their Civil Service status.  Ordinance introduced (vote later in May) to amend the professional engineer services agreement with HDR Engineering, Inc. due to additional design work on the Floodwall Pump Station #2 project and an expansion in the scope of work for the project’s construction administration. The Corps of Engineers is requiring a third party inspection requirement for the project which will lead to HDR’s expertise on site more than initially required.  Ordinance introduced (vote later in May) to approve the bid with unit prices from Jim Smith Contracting Company, LLC for the 2018-2019 Street Resurfacing Program. ###
