HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 917, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENTIONS OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS REGARDING THE CONTINUATION OF CIVIL SERVICE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah has made a decision to adopt a new pension plan for it's city employees, and WHEREAS, questions have arisen in the minds of several employees as to whether or not the new pension system would be cause for the Board of Commissioners to make efforts to abolish civil service job security benefits for it's employees, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That this Board of Commissioners commits itself to it's employees that it will take no action to change any civil service classified positions to noncivil service positions. SECTION 2. That this Commission will give further and serious consideration to conferring civil service job security benefits on it's employees who do not presently have civil service status but who hold civil service classifications and some noncivil service classifications in those cases where such noncivil service employees elect to participate in the new pension system which is to become effective July 1, 1975. SECTION 3. Copies of this resolution shall be delivered to each department within the City, and it shall be the responsibility of each department head to conspicuously post the resolution for the consideration and viewing of all employees other than actual members of the police and fire departments. SECTION 4. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after it's adoption.
