HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 89, No Resolution Number89 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS i FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CITY'S REQUIREMENT OF LIMESTONE FOR THE YEAR 1973 (APPROXIMATELY 10,000 TONS) TO BE USED IN STREET COFSTRUCTION WORK BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: I' SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized �I to advertise for bids for the City's requirement of limestone for the year i 1973 (approximately 10,000 tons). Bid price to be f.o.b. to any destination II in the city limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, as specified by the Director of the Street Department. The limestone is to be delivered as ordered, by collect telephone call to the successful bidder or bidders, in 100 ton lots or more, and the successful bidder is to guarantee to start delivery within twenty-four hours after notification and continue until the required amount has been delivered. The limestone must meet the specifications known and listed as "Kentucky Department of Highways Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction" for No. 2, No. 3, No. 610, No. 68, No. 78, No. 8, No. 9M, No. 11 and DGA limestone. Separate unit prices may be bid for each gradation or group of gradations if the bidder does not choose to bid the entire amount (all gradations) at one price. Though exact quantities cannot be determined, it is estimated that at least 80% of the stone required would be in the No. 68, 78, 8, 9M and 11 group. Nos. 2, 3 and 610 would comprise less than 10% of the total quantity and less than 10% would be DGA. The successful bidder may be required to furnish representative samples of any and all items and all weights of delivered material must be certified from some accurate scales in or near the City of Paducah at the expense of the successful bidder. All bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in market price j I and shall guarantee a reduction in price in the event of a decrease in market price. The successful bidder shall post a performance bond in the i sum of 10,000.00 ' $ guaranteeing specifications and delivery. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept the lowest I and/or best bid. i SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids I by notice posted up at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant to RRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be �� 90 received after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and reject any and all bids. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
