HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 829, No Resolution Number89 828 i A RESOLUTION REQUESTING TIE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CITY'S REQUIREMENT OF LIMESTONE FOR THE YEAR 1975 (APPROXIMATELY 10,000 TONS) TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMIITISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the City's requirement of limestone for the year 1975 (Approximately 10,000 tons) The quantity quoted is a preliminary estimate only and the City reserves the right to add to or delete from same at it's discretion. Bid price to be f.o.b. to any destination in the city limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, as specified by the Director of the Street Department. The limestone is to be delivered as ordered, by collect telephone call to the successful bidder or bidders, in 100 ton lots or more, and the successful bidder is to guarantee to start delivery within twenty-four hours after notification and continue until the required amount has been delivered. The limestone must meet the specifications known and listed as "Kentucky Department of Highways Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction" for No. 2, No. 3, No. 610, No. 68, No. 78, No. 8, No. 9M, No. 11, DGA limestone and limestone rip rap. The successful bidder may be required to furnish representative samples of any and all items and all weights of delivered material must be certified from some accurate scales in or near the City of Paducah at the expense of the successful bidder. All bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in market price and shall 1 j guarantee n reduction in price in the event of a decrease in market price. The successful jl bidder shall post a performance bond in the sum of 31,000.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery. The) Qty reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept the 1 lowest attd/or best bid. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice pasted I at the City [tall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun -Democrat i to be published as required by law, All bids shall be scaled and no bid shall be i received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the timv fixed for the opening of bids shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the best responsible bidder or bidders, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legtrlly obligated to purchase said material until the adoption of an ordinanco authorizing the execution of a contract. 330 SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
