KENTUCKY TO GOVERNOR JULIAN AT. CARROLL FOR ISSUING EXECUTIVE ORDER 75-106

WHEREBY MUNICIPALITIES OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY ARE EXEMPTED
FROM PAYMENT OF SALES TAX ON TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY.
WHEREAS, there has existed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky for several
years an unequal tax discrimination against Kentucky vendors which reduced
competitiveness of Kentucky vendors with out of state vendors, reduced business
activities within the state to the detriment of the economy and revenue structure of
the state and it's political subdivisions, and increased the cost of materials and
supplies to Kentucky municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the municipalities of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the
Kentucky Municipal League have made determined efforts to have the aforesaid in-
equitable situation remedied through repeated efforts with the Commonwealth of
Kentucky Department of Revenue and the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Governor Julian M. Carroll, by Executive Order 75-106
issued January 29, 1975, recognized that it is evident that the best interest of the
state and it's political subdivisions would be served by the elimination of the
aforesaid inequity; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
wishes to express it's appreciation to Governor Julian Al. Carroll for his decisive
action which will save the City of Paducah, Kentucky in excess of $20,000.00 per year;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, expresses it's sincere gratitude to Governor Julian AT. Carroll for issuing
Executive Ord,tr No. 75-106 on .January 29, 1975, whereby municipalities of the
Commonwealth of Kentucky were exempted from the payment of Kentucky Sales Tax.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk Is hereby authorized and directed to have a
copy of this resolution published in a newspaper of local publication, and to forward
a certified copy of this resolution to Governor .Julian Al. Carroll.
