HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 74, No Resolution Number74 `, A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR VARIOUS CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL TO BE USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN AUTOMOBILE IMPOUNDMENT AREA BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the following building and construction materials to be used in the construction of an automobile impoundment area in the City of Paducah, Kentucky: A_- GENERAL: 1. FENCE a GATES: The Contractor shall furnish fencing and gates, indicated on the drawing and as specified below. The contractor shall furnish a manufacturer's standard product applicable to the type specified. All materials shall be galvanized materials as required by A.S.T.M. Specifications #A-191-38. Hot -dipped galvanized after weaving. 2. TYPE: Chain Link No. 9 Gauge, 2" Mesh with Three (3) strands barbed wire extending outward at 450 angle. 3. HEIGHT: 7'0" Overall (72" Height Fabric and three (3) strands barbed wire) 4. POST LENGTH: Sufficient to accommodate fabric and extension arm and extended 3'0" into concrete footing. 5. All Gate Posts to be set in 42" deep concrete footings. B - FENCE MATERIALS: 1. FABRIC: 2" Chain Link Mesh, No. 9 Gauge Galvanized Wire 2. CORNER POSTS. 2-7/8" minimum outside diameter, weight 5.79 pounds per foot 3. END POSTS: 2-7/8" minimum outside diameter, weight 5.79 pounds per foot 4. GATE POSTS: (for 30' Double Swing Gates): 6-5/8" outside diameter, weight 18.97 pounds per foot 5. GATE POSTS_ (for 24' Double Swing Gates): 4" outside diameter, weight 9.11 pounds per foot 6. LINE POSTS: 231" OD outside idameter, weight 3.65 pounds per foot 7. TOP RAIL: 1-5/8" outside diameter, weight 2.27 pounds per foot S. GATE FRAME: 2" outside diameter, weight 2.72 pounds per foot (NO TUBING WILL BE USED) j 9. GATES: All gates to be equipped with malleable hinges and i locking devices suitable for usage for padlock. Double gates to be equipped with center drop bar assembly. All gates to be equipped with holdbacks for open position. i 10. FITTINGS: All fittings to be malleable iron or pressed steel. I 11. BRACES: Brace materials to be the same as top rail. To be � installed midway between the top rail and ground, and to extend from terminal post to first adjacent line post. Braces to be securely fastened to posts by heavy pressed steel connections then trussed from line post back to terminal post with 3/8" diameter round rod. 75 12. POST TOPS: All posts shall be equipped with tops. Tubular posts tops to be so designed as to exclude moisture from the posts. All intermediate post tops designed to hold the top rail. 13. EXTENSION ARMS: Where barbed wire is required posts shall be equipped with extension arms. Arms to be designed to extend at a 450 angle with lock wire for securely fastening the barbed wire equally spaced with the top strand located 12 inches above the fabric and 12 inches out from the fence line. 14. FABRIC CONNECTIONS: The chain link fabric shall be securely fastened to all terminal posts by 3/16" x 3/4" tension bars with heavy 11 gauge pressed steel bands spaced approximately 14 inches apart - so the line post with 6 gauge wire clips spaced approximately 14 inches apart and to the top rail with 9 gauge tie wire on approximately 24" centers. 15. TOLERANCE: Standard plus or minus mill tolerance on all framework members and chain link fabric will apply. 16. LENGTH OF FENCE: Contract calls for 700 linear feet of fence including gates. C - INSTALLATION Fence shall be installed under the supervision of a competent representative of the fence manufacturer. Fabric shall be carefully stretched to obtain proper tension and shall be securely fastened to top rail and line posts. Fence shall be installed two (2") inches above grade. D - QUANTITY 680 Linear feet fence 4 Corner posts 2 Gate posts 20' Double Swing Gate SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat as provided for by law. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, andthe Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to purchase said materials until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
