HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 619, Ordinance Number 74-6-991619 4� ORDINANCE NO. 74-6-991 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-20 "HOLIDAYS" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 2-20 "Holidays" of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 2-20. Holidays. (a) The following days during each calendar year are hereby designated as holidays on which all city employees, with the exception of the police and fire depart- ment personnel, will be granted a holiday: New Year's Day (January 1) Memorial Day (May 30) Independence Day (July 4) Labor Day Thanksgiving Day The Day immediately following Thanksgiving Day Christmas Eve (December 24) Christmas Day (December 25) New Year's Eve (December 31) and such other holidays as may from time to time be designated by motion of the Board of Commissioners. If any of the days mentioned herein as holidays fall on Sunday, Monday shall be recognized as the holiday. If any of the above holidays fall on Saturday, the preceding Friday will be recognized as the holiday. As soon as possible after any holiday, the police and fire department personnel shall be granted a leave of one (1) day to be selected by the respective head of the police department and fire department. All other employees will be paid for recognized holidays not worked in an amount equivalent to eight (8) times the employee's regular hourly rate or the equivalent of one day's pay. Such other employees who are required to work on a recognized holiday shall be further compensated at one and one-half OD times their straight time hourly rate. (b) Members of the fire department working as a member of a platoon performing duty in shifts of twenty-four hours on duty and forty-eight hours off duty shall be given holiday time as may be scheduled with the Chief of the Fire Department with a credit of two (2) holidays per twenty-four hour shift, and they shall be compensated for such holiday at their average earnings including regular and overtime pay for a fifty-six hour work week." SECTION 2. Section 1 above amends Ordinance dated September 23, 1952, which was last amended by Ordinance No. 74-4-950 adopted April 2, 1974. 620 SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and retroactive to June 17, 1974.
