ORDINANCE NO. 74-1-925
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXERCISE THE
CITY'S OPTION FOR THE YEAR 1974 SMITH ANGELS OF MERCY, INC . , FOR AMBULANCE
SERVICE IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT AND PRESCRIBING
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH CONTRACT SHALL BE MADE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to
exercise the City's option, and to execute a contract, for the year 1974 in accordance
with the existing contract with Angels of Mercy, Inc. to provide ambulance service
in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, said option and new contract to contain the following
provisions:
(a) The contract shall be for the period from January 1, 1974 through
December 31, 1974..
(b) The Angels of Mercy, Inc. shall comply with all ordinances of the City
of Paducah and all laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky;
(c) All employees of Angels of Mercy, Inc. who shall serve as an ambulance
driver or attendant shall possess currently valid American Red Cross Standard and
Advanced Training Certificates and shall be at least twenty years of age;
(d) All vehicles used for operation of the service shall be not more than five
years old and shall be equipped with such equipment as may currently be listed on the
minimum equipment list of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons
and such other equipment as may be required by ordinances of the City of Paducah;
(e) At least two trained persons, one driver and one attendant shall be
carried on each ambulance for each ambulance call which is covered by the contract;
(f) The service to be rendered for the consideration hereinafter named shall
be to respond to all official calls regarding accidents on all highways, roads, streets
and other such ways for vehicular traffic within the City of Paducah;
(g) The consideration to be paid by the City for such service, shall be as
follows:
$1,200.00 for the month of January 1974, and $800.00 per month thereafter
during the term of the contract. All payments shall be made by the tenth of each month
in which the payment is due.
(h) The contract shall contain an option for the City to renew the contract
for an additional one year period with annual payments of $10, 000.00 for the year 1975,

which payment shall thereafter be made in the same manner a,
for the year 1974.
(i) In the event the County of McCracken auth
with Angels of Mercy, Inc. for services in McCracken County
Paducah, the contract may be executed as a joint contract bete
the County of McCracken and Angels of Mercy, Inc.
SECTION 2. The Board hereby finds that an e
ordinance shall therefore be introduced and read and remain
completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage
be in full force and effect immediately thereafter.
