HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 327, No Resolution Number327 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF NINE (9) NEW 1974 FOUR DOOR AUTOMOBILES, AND ONE (1) 1974 FOUR DOOR STATION WAGON FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF T14E CITY OF PADUCAH,KENTUCKY; SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested to advertise for bids for sale to the City of Paducah of nine (9) new 1974 four door sedan automobiles, and one (1) new 1974 four door station wagon for use in the Police Department, said vehicles to have the following specifications: SPECIFICATIONS FOR AUTOMOBILES Minimum Wheel base of 121". Fifteen (15) inch wheels. Full four (4) ply tires - not four ply rating. Power steering. Air conditioning - factory installed. AM radio (optional) Seat belts, with automatic rollers for each Minimum 400 cubic inch engine, with 2BBL carburetor. Color: Blue body with white top and white front doors. Heavy duty automatic transmission. Heater and defroster - large size. Standard Equipment to be described fully Dual sun visors Back-up lights Spare tires and wheel. Brakes shall be heavy duty variety having the largest braking surface available. Each bidder shall state in his bid the popular name and model upon which he bids, and if requested, will exhibit at the City Ball to the City Officials a similar car of the model bid upon with the equipment offered, and the successful bidder must be capable of delivering all automobiles bid upon within sixty days after the date of any contract. SECTION 3. The City Manager shall advertise for scaled bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting such notice of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat to be published not less than seven days nor more than twenty- 329 one days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the best responsible bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids, and the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract. its adoption.
