A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION FOR
CABLE TELEVISION, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO APPOINT
THE MEMBERS OF SAID C0161MISSION
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
seek to assure that the interest of all citizens are protected and
served in the event the City enters into a franchise agreement concerning
cable television systems, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Commissioners that any
such system selected for our community gives the widest possible exposure
in the areas of education, health, public safety, public opinion as well
as enjoyable television viewing, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has received recommendations
for the appointment of a citizens advisory commission to study the problems
and potential of cable television in this community and to recommend
to the Board ways and means for providing the best possible cable television
system for this community, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners finds that the appointment of
such a commission would be beneficial from an aducational, advisory and
informational standpoint,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That a Citizens Advisory Commission for Cable Television
be created and established for the purpose of advising the Board of
commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, on ways and means for
establishing the best possible system for this community.
SECTION 2. That the Citizens Advisory Commission be composed of
eleven (11) members, and that the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed
to appoint said members which should come from a cross-section of the
citizens of the City of Paducah, Kentucky.
SECTION 3. That the Citizens Advisory Commission shall have
the authority to hold public meetings concerning all aspects of cable
television and that upon the conclusion of their study and investigation
that they submit to the Board of commissioners their written findings
and proposal for the enactment of a cable television franchise.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
