HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 193, No Resolution Number193 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MECHANICSBURG CODE ENFORCEMENT AGENCY TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR SITE IMPROVEMENT WORK IN THE MECHANICSBURG CODE ENFORCEMENT PROJECT AREA BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Executive Director of the Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Agency be authorized to advertise for bids for construction of site improvement work in the Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Project Area, said invitation for bids to be in words and figures as follows: "INVITATION FOR BIDS 1.1.01 RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS: The Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Agency of Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, will receive bids for the construction of site improvements until 10:00 A.M., on the 14th day of May, 1973, at the offices of the Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Agency, 2501 Powell Street, Paducah, Kentucky, at which time and place all bids will publicly be opened and read aloud. 1.1.02 PROJECT: The project consists of furnishing materials and constructing all the following estimated quantities: a. Site Work - 1 lump sum. b. Remove Trees (12" or larger) - 5 each c. Class "B" Concrete - 50 cubic yards d. Compacted Bank Gravel - 500 tons e. Bituminous Concrete Surface - 2,790 tons f. Concrete Sidewalk Construction - 50 square yards g. Curb and Gutter Construction - 10,745 linear feet h. Concrete Sidewalk and Drive Apron Removal - 910 square yards i. Concrete Sidewalk and Drive Apron Construction - 910 square yards j. Inlet Removal - 19 each k. New Inlet Construction - 19 each 1. 12" RCP Inlet Connections - 120 linear feetfeet in. 15" RCP Inlet Connections - 200 linear feet n. 18" RCP 8-10' Deep - 375 linear feet o. Storm Sewer niH, 4 Dia., 8-10 Depth - 1 each P. Adiust Manhole 24 each 1.1.03 OBTAINING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: Proposed forms of Contract Documents, including plans and specifications are on file at the offices of Community Program Consultants, Inc., 700 Jefferson Street, Paducah, Kentucky. Copies of the documents will also be on file at the following plan rooms and reporting agencies: Associated General Contractors, Paducah, Kentucky; F. W. Dodge Corporation, Evansville, Indiana. a. Deposit Required. Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained by depositing $100.00 with the Engineer, Community Program Consultants, Inc., 700 Jefferson , Paducah, Kentucky, for each set of documents so obtained. Each such deposit will be refunded if the drawings and Contract Documents are returned in good condition within 10 days after bid opening. Bidders returning unusable plans or specifications, nonbidders, including material suppliers and subcontractors, and those returning plans and specifications after the above mentioned 10 -day period will be refunded fifty percent (50%) of their deposit. 1.1.04 PROPOSAL GUARANTY: A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Agency, negotiable U. S. Government Bonds (at par value), or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and an acceptable surety in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total of Bid for Site Preparation shall be submitted with each bid. 1,74 1.1.05 WAGE RATES: Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. 1.1.06 OWNER'S RIGHTS RESERVED: The Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Agency reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. Bids may be held by the Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Agency for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of the opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders, prior to awarding the Contract." SECTION 2. The Executive Director shall advertise for sealed bids by notice posted at the City Hall Door and by publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the Executive Director up to the time for opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and reject any and all bids. SECTION 3.
