A RESOLUTION REQUESTING .THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR THE PURCHASE OF THREE DUMP TRUCKS FOR USE BY THE CITY STREET
DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE
SHALL BE MADE

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF I
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: I

SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
to advertise for bids for the purchase of three dump trucks for use by

the city street department, each of said dump trucks to have the I�
following minimum specifications: j
WHEEL BASE:
1
Minimum wheel base shall be 144 inches.
BED:
Size - 108 x 84 inches, four cubic yard capacity (water level),
equipped with seven inch diameter hydraulic hoist cylinder and h cab
guard.
SPRINGS:
Front - 3,425 capacity pounds at ground.
Rear - 10,590 capacity pounds with 2,250 pound overload
auxiliaries.
AXLES:
FRAME:
Front - Forged steel I beam center section, 5,500 pound capacity
and heavy duty shock absorbers.
Rear - 17,500 pound capacity.
Heavy duty frame reinforcement. G.V.W. rating 24,000 pounds.
G.C.W. rating 32,000 pounds.
BRAKES:
Heavy duty, hydraulic vacuum booster. Internal shoe type parking brake.
ELECTRICAL:
12 volt electric system. Heavy duty 66 plate, 70 amp. hour battery.
42 amp. 630 watt alternator. Turn signals front and rear, 4 way
emergency flashers.
WHEELS AND TIRES:
Disc wheels, Tires 8:25 x 20, 10 ply mud and snow rear. 8:25 x 20.
10 ply highway tread front. One (1) only spare wheel to be used
for all three trucks.
ENGINE: '
Minimum of 361 cubic inch V-8. Clutch assembly 13 inch heavy duty. i
TRANSMISSION:

Five (5) speed direct.

GENERAL:
Each truck shall be equipped with West Coast type rear view
mirrors, front tow hooks, and all safety features required by Federal
O.S.H.A. safety regulations. Colors: Cab and bed shall be black.
Each bidder shall state guarantee and time needed for delivery
after receipt of the purchase contract. Both guarantee and delivery
dates will be considered in the bid evaluation.
Each bidder shall state the purchase price of the three trucks
F. O. B 919 Madison Street, Paducah, Kentucky, including applicable taxes,
and shall state the amount offered for one (1) 1951 Model G.M.C. Dump
Truck, serial number 1087, motor number C 228297328. Trade-in may be
inspected at the Paducah Flood Control Office, 2000 South 4th Street.
Each bidder will, if requested, exhibit at the City Hall to City
Officials a similar type dump truck bid upon with the equipment offered.
The machine so demonstrated shall be complete as offered by the bidder
for this bid.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
notice posted at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant to
KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days of the date
on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received after
the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City
Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed with the
Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the best responsible
bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and reject any and all
bids.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
