ORDINANCE NO. 73-3-780
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB -SECTIONS (a) THROUGH (h) OF SECTION
12-19 AND SECTION 12-28 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Sub -sections (a) through (h) of Section 12-19
"Number, rank and salaries of members" of the Code of Ordinances
City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said
sub -sections as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 12-19. Number, rank and salaries of members.
(a) The number and rank of the members of the fire department
of the city and their monthly salaries, provided such salaries are not
changed by any annual apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall
be as follows:

(b) The assistant Chiefs shall be paid at the rate of $820.00
per month until such time as they have completed 17 years of service
with the city; at the expiration of 17 years of service they shall be paid
at the rate of $825.00 per month; and at the expiration of 20 years of
service they shall be paid at the rate of $830.00 per month.
(c) Captain shall be paid at the rate of $705.00 per month until
he has served with the city for 14 years; at the expiration of 14 years
he shall be paid at the rate of $710.00 per month; at the expiration of
17 years he shall be paid at the rate of $715.00 per month; and for all
months of service after 20 years he shall be paid at the rate of $720.00
per month.
(d) The inspector shall be paid at the rate of $655.00 per month
for all service through 11 years with the city; at the expiration of 11
years the rate of pay shall be $660.00 per month; at the expiration of
14 years of service the rate of pay shall be $665.00 per month; at the
expiration of 17 years of service, and for all service thereafter, the
rate of pay shall be $670.00 per month.

(e) Chief mechanic shall be paid at the same rate per month
as provided for the inspector.
(f) Lieutenants shall be paid at the same rate per month as
provided for the inspector.
(g) Firefighters shall be paid at the rate of $530.00 per month
for the first 6 months; at the expiration of 6 months of service with
the city the rate of pay shall be $575.00 per month; at the end of one
year of service the rate of pay shall be $585.00 per month; at the end
of the second year of service the rate of pay shall be $595.00 per month;
for all service between the third and fifth years, the rate of pay shall
be $605.00 per month; for service between the fifth and eighth year, the
rate of pay shall be $610.00 per month; for all service between the
eighth and eleventh year the rate of pay shall be $615.00 per month;
for service between the eleventh and fourteenth year, the rate of pay
shall be $620.00 per month, and for all service beyond fourteen years
the rate of pay shall be $625.00 per month.
(h) Fire marshall shall be paid at the rate of $730.00 per month
until he has served with the city for 17 years; at the expiration of 17
years he shall be paid at the rate of $735.00 per month; at the
expiration of 20 years he shall be paid at the rate of $740.00 per
month.
SECTION 2. That Section 12-28 of the Code of Ordinances
City of Paducah, Kentucky pertaining to Switchboard Operators be amended
and reordained so that said Section as amended and reordained shall be
as follows:
"Sec. 12-28. Same - Salary.
Any person occupying the position of noncivil service fire
department switchboard operator shall be paid at the rate of $510.00
per month for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of
six months $515.00 per month; at the expiration of one year $520.00
per month; at the expiration of two years $525.00 per month; at the
expiration of three years $530.00 per month; at the expiration of five
years $535.00 per month; at the expiration of eight years $540.00 per
month; at the expiration of eleven years $545.00 per month; at the
expiration of fourteen years $550.00 per month; at the expiration of
seventeen years $555.00 per month, and at the expiration of twenty years
and for all service thereafter $560.00 per month."
SECTION 3. Section 1 herein amends an ordinance adopted December
11, 1951 and last amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 72-5-644 which
was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on May 9, 1972. Section 2
amends Section 5 of an ordinance adopted February 28, 1965 and last
amended by Section 4 of Ordinance No. 72-4-639 adopted April 18, 1972.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
on and after April 2, 1973.
