HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 847, Ordinance Number 71-11-573847 ORDINANCE NO. 71-11-573 AN ORDINANCE PROPOSING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY LYING ADJACENT TO THE EAST CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF THE TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED, AND DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH ANNEXATION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. It is hereby proposed that certain land lying adjacent to the east corporate limits, more particularly described hereinafter, be annexed to the City of Paducah, and that said property so proposed to be annexed is accurately described as follows: Beginning at a point where the present easterly city limits intersects the northeasterly right-of-way line of the Paducah Floodwall; thence in a southeasterly and southerly direction with said floodwall right-of-way and the floodwall right-of- way if extended to the southerly right-of-way line of the Belt - line Highway; thence with the southerly line of said Highway to the west line of Arizona Street; thence in a southerly direction with said west line of Arizona Street to the north right-of-way line of the I.C.R.R.; thence with the right-of-way of the I.C.R.R, in a northwesterly direction to the present city limits at the Benton Road; thence with said city limits line in a northeasterly, easterly and northeasterly direction to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. It is hereby declared that extending the boundary of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, by annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof is desirable and necessary. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published in the Sun -Democrat, a newspaper in Paducah, Kentucky, as provided for and required by Section 424.130 of Kentucky Revised Statutes, and the extension of the city limits as herein proposed shall not become effective until the adoption of an ordinance annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof, and such ordinance shall not be adopted until after publication of this ordinance as provided herein and until the expiration of a period of thirty days after the enactment of this ordinance. Notice is hereby given under the provisions of Section 81.110 of Kentucky Revised Statutes that one or more residents or freeholders of the herein territory proposed to be annexed may, within thirty days after the enactment of this ordinance file a petition in the Circuit Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, setting forth the reason why said territory, or any part of it, shall not be annexed. 848 SECTION 4.
