HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 771, Ordinance Number 71-10-549i"041 ORDINANCE ORDINANCE NO. 71-10-549 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE IN PADUCAH AND MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, AND ANGELS OF MERCY, INC., AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH CONTRACT SHALL BE MADE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Paducah, a contract to provide for ambulance service in the City of Paducah and County of McCracken between the City of Paducah and County of McCracken and Angels of Mercy, Inc., said contract to be executed contingent upon the joint approval and execution by the County of McCracken with a provision for equal contributions from both governmental bodies, and said contract shall contain the following provisions: (a) The contract shall be for one year and may be made retroactive to but not prior to September 1, 1971; (b) The Angels of Mercy, Inc. shall comply with all ordinances of the City of Paducah and all laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky; (c) All employees of Angels of Mercy, Inc. who shall serve as an ambulance driver or attendant shall possess currently valid American Red Cross Standard and Advanced Training Certifications and shall be at least twenty years of age; (d) All vehicles used for operation of the service shall be not more than five years old and shall be equipped with such equipment as may currently be listed on the minimum equipment list of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons and such other equipment as may be required by resolution of the Fiscal Court of McCracken County or by ordinances of the City of Paducah; (e) At least two trained persons, one driver and one attendant, shall be carried on each ambulance for each ambulance call which is covered by the contract; 772 (f) The service to be rendered for the consideration hereafter named shall be to respond to all official calls regarding accidents on all highways, roads, streets and other such ways for vehicular traffic within the county of McCracken and City of Paducah; (g) The consideration to be paid by the City for such service, which sum is to be matched by the County of McCracken shall not exceed the sum of $5,000.00. SECTION 2. The Board hereby finds that an emergency exists, and this ordinance shall be introduced and read and remain on file for one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect immediately thereafter.
