A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MA7iAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR FURNISHING AND INSTALLING OF WARNING LIGHT AND SIREN SYSTEMS FOR
VEHICLES IN THE PADUCAH POLICE DEPARTMENT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
to advertise for bids for the furnishing and installing of warning
light and siren systems in the vehicles to be used by the Paducah
Police Department.
The successful bidder shall be required to furnish and install,
complete, four (4) police warning -safety light systems as follows:
Integrated warning -safety light system consisting of weather
sealed, anodized aluminum roof top bar, which shall be easily changed
from one vehicle to another without drilling holes in or damaging
vehicle, mounted thereon twin warning light beacons which contain
individual sealed motors (12 volt), four sealed beam bulbs with a
flash rate of 90 per minute or better under normal operating con-
ditions, and high impact blue plastic domes with screw clamp arrangement
for quick servicing of unit. To minimize voltage drop and provide
maximum brilliance from the vehicle power source, lamp current is
controlled directly by a power relay in the light bar assembly. A
dash mounted "on-off" switch should activate the relay. Mounted
between beacon lights shall be a wide -arc fiberglass roof top speaker
with minimum power rating of 75 watts.
Incorporated into total system, vender shall include solid state
electronic siren and public address system which shall include control
positions for (1) normal siren sound, (2) yelping siren sound, (3)
manual operation of siren, (4) public address announcements by use of
radio microphone and (5) amplification of incoming radio messages by
use of interconnecting cabling from unit to radio unit in the vehicle.
Unit shall be rated at 100 watts power output when used with necessary
matching speakers, and shall not require any microphones other than the
regular radio microphone in the vehicle for operation.
Systems shall be installed complete within the City of Paducah,
Kentucky. Bid amounts shall include all parts to facilitate proper
operation including all applicable taxes and transportation charges
to the City of Paducah.

Each bidder shall state the maximum time required for delivery.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager shall advertise for sealed
bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice
of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat as provided for
by law. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after
the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the
opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the best responsible bidder, and the Board of Com-
missioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the
City shall not become legally obligated to purchase said equipment until
the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase
contract.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
