ORDINANCE NO. 71-7-513
AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE POSITION OF CRIMINALISTICS COORDINATOR
IN THE PADUCAH POLICE DEPARTMENT, PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF SUCH
POSITION, AND ESTABLISHING AN ACCOUNT FOR THE FUNDING OF ALL COSTS
RELATING TO THE SAID POSITION
WHEREAS, on June 21, 1971, the Kentucky Crime Commission
approved Grant Award No. 71A0039 -0024-I in the amount of $27,376.00
pursuant to the City's application for a criminalistics coordinator
under the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to create the position of criminalistics
coordinator in the City of Paducah and to establish an account for
collecting and disbursing grant funds,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the temporary position of Criminalistics
Coordinator be created for the City of Paducah to work with the
Paducah Police Department, and that the salary for such position
be at the rate of $570.00 per month, plus all pay and allowances
for uniforms, pensions, vacations and sick leave as are now applicable
for policemen in the Paducah Police Department.
SECTION 2. The criminalistics coordinator shall be trained by
the Kentucky Crime Laboratories as a specialist in the collection,
identification and maintenance of criminal evidence, and shall act
as a coordinator between the eight counties in the Jackson Purchase
area of Kentucky and the Kentucky Crime Laboratories for the collection,
identification, assembling, labeling, and packaging of all criminal
evidence requiring laboratory testing, and shall act as a courier
between western Kentucky and Frankfort, Kentucky for such matters,
and shall perform such other functions as may be required in police
work and investigations by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department
and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the said Grant
Award.
SECTION 3. That the City Treasurer establish Account No. 2125
for the purpose of accounting for all income and disbursements
pertaining to the work of the criminalistics coordinator, including
but not limited to, his salary, his equipment, and his necessary and

incidental expenses.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and retroactive to July 1, 1971.
