HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 597, Ordinance Number 71-5-466597 ORDINANCE NO. 71-5-466 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 4-20 AND 4-25 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 4-20. "Inoculation and issuance of license tag by city veterinarian" be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 4-20. Inoculation and issuance of license tatby city veterinarian. The City Manager is hereby authorized to employ a sufficient number of veterinarians to inoculate dogs and to issue the license therefor, and the veterinarian shall receive for his services the sum of four dollars ($4.00) for each dog inoculated by him. Each veterinarian so employed shall deposit with the city treasurer the sum of one dollar ($1.00) for each license tag obtained by him. Upon payment to him of a license fee of four dollars ($4.00) it shall be the duty of the veterinarian to inoculate such dog and deliver to the owner the license tag issued by the city together with a certificate showing that such dog has been immunized against rabies. Any license tag or tags which are not used may be returned to the city treasurer who shall refund to the veterinarian the sum of one dollar ($1.00) for each unused tag." SECTION 2, That Section 4-25. "Same - Impoundment," be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 4-25. Same - Impoundment. Any dog found at large shall be subject to be seized and impounded by the City of Paducah and any such dog not claimed and whose release has not been procured within seven (7) days after its seizure, shall be subject to be disposed of in such manner as may be determined by the city manager. On presentation of a release by the police court of the City of Paducah, any dog may be redeemed and released to its owner or keeper within seven (7) days after being taken up and impounded, upon payment of the following fees: A redemption fee of five dollars ($5.00) shall be paid for the first time a dog is redeemed, but for each subsequent 598 redemption of an individual dog the redemption fee shall be ten dollars ($10.00). The sum of two dollars ($2.00) shall be due and payable for each day or part of a day a dog is kept in the pound, and a "day" shall mean a calendar day beginning one second after midnight. If any dog so released has not been licensed, the sum of four dollars and fifty cents ($4.50) shall be charged for inoculation and license". SECTION 3. Section 1 above amends Section 3 of Ordinance No. 68-2-20 which was adopted February 21, 1968, and last amended by Section 1 of ordinance No. 69-4-197 adopted April 22, 1969. Section 2 above amends Section 7 of Ordinance No. 68-2-20 which was last amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 69-4-197. SECTION 4.
