HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 581, No Resolution Number581 L A RESOLUTION THAT THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS REQUEST THE KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS TO GIVE CONSIDERATION TO THE CITY'S "APPLICATION FOR EARLY TOPICS IMPLEMENTATION PLAN" RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND SAFETY PROGRAMS WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration is charged with implementing the program entitled "Traffic Operations Program to Increase Capacity and Safety" designed to be utilized to create highly cost effective improvements in street traffic flow; and WHEREAS, the Kentucky Department of Highways is utilizing the TOPICS Program in various areas within the State of Kentucky; and WHEREAS, the Paducah Board of City Commissioners has identified a series of street and intersection improvements consistent with the implementing guidelines for the TOPICS Program, and WHEREAS, the improvements are identified in the document entitled "Application for Early TOPICS Implementation Plan", dated November, 1970; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Kentucky Department of Highways be requested to give every appropriate consideration to the "Application for Early TOPICS Implementation Plan" in recognition of the immediate need of the improvements recommended therein. SECTION 2. That the Board of Commissioners express the strongest interest in the traffic and safety programs proposed, and is committed to support and is committed to assist the Kentucky Department of Highways in its consideration of the "Application for Early TOPICS Plan". SECTION 3. This resolution shall be incorporated in the Application for Early TOPICS Implementation Plan" to be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Highways, which application is dated November 1970.
